04:50 am - Happy (belated) New Year!
2007...What a year so far! I guess things have been pretty good, though my job hunt still continues. I was offered a job this past Friday, but not crazy about a 25 mile/ 2 hr. commute every day!

In the past I've shared highlights (and lowlights) of my relationships, but I don't think I will continue that this time around. I will say that I've had some nice memories in the last couple of months and I hope that things continue to go as smoothly as possible. Right now things on the relationship front are 'complicated', but once the dust settles, maybe I'll be inclined to share more.

OK, it's nearly 5 AM and I need to take my car in to get serviced in a few hours so I should wrap this up for now. Hopefully I'll be a better contributor to LJ this year, but I'm not making any promises just yet. Stay tuned...

09:10 pm - Make Your Own Kind of Music
Oh April seems like a lifetime away and even though my list of things to do hardly got done, well.... Anyway, we'er here in the 'dog days of summer' as they say and pretty soon even that will be over. OK, time for my quarterly wake up call to myself to get into gear and do something.

On a slightly different note...I'm contemplating hosting a MobileMovie night before the month is over. At first I thought of trying to do it myself, but the cost of renting one of those inflatible screens along with the projector and sound system...forget it! So I stumbled onto http://mobmov.org/ and it sounds like the lo-fi way to go.

My plan is to screen Beautiful Thing since this year marks the 10th Anniversary. Yeah, I know it may not be a huge hit, but I like to think it has enough of a following to warrent such an event. Anyway, first I need to contact the guy with the equipment to see if this can even happen. After that I'll crank up the ol'PR machine and put the word out.

...stay tuned...

03:02 pm - The Only Way Is Up
One day I'll get my life back on track. It was supposed to be today, but I overslept again. Meanwhile, life goes on...friends come and go...here I am, alone. Ugh. OK so life could be worse. I am thankful to even have a life as I'm reminded when I hear about people from high school dying before they reach 30. So what am I doing at 31?

I've laid out a few projects for myself and I think the only way these will get done is if I post them up as a reminder to myself not to slack off another day. Of course, being the type of person I am, I've been working on things on and off for awhile now, but nothing gets done. Let's see what I've got to accomplish...

1. Writing Projects:
[A] Short story compilation
[B] Interviews for musician book
[C] Concert reviews (posted via Friendster?)
[D] Article on 'Beautiful Thing' for UK mag (due before May)

2. Landscaping Projects:
[A] Put up tool shed (also clean out garage)
[B] Mulch flowerbeds
[C] Install rock garden/paths
[D] Work on drainage system as time/funds permit

3. Fitness Projects:
[A] 3 balanced meals with 2 snacks in between
[B] Gym M/W/F ... Pilates T/TH
[C] Get a new bike...Ride it
[D] Eat smart, Cook healthy

Well that should keep me busy and out of trouble. I was going to add a Misc. Project section, but I don't think I should lose focus. This isn't to say that I plan to throw out my social life, but just have to figure a way to get all of these things accomplished, in addition to. Good luck to me! ;-)

09:34 pm - Drive Me Crazy
OK that is probably the first and last time you'll see me reference a Britney Spears track here, ha! So last night I was out driving minding my own business when....CRASH!

A little background... Yesterday it was raining on and off pretty much all day. After work I met up with Dan, Emily and Dan's friend Chris to watch 'Jesus Is Magic' at the E Street Cinema. Very funny indeed, but now that I look back on it, maybe I laughed too much at the Ethiopian baby joke?

Anyway, after the film I went to Capital City for dinner with Dan and Emily, which was pretty fun. Dan admitted to a crush on the redheaded 'gay' in the film. I so knew he was going to be into him too. I guess that means I don't have a chance? ;-p

So it's pouring down rain when we head out of there, I walk them to Metro Center and head back to my car that was parked around 8th and E St. By the time I get going it's about 8:30 or so and I speak to Xerxes before driving off and decide to hang out before I head home.

I'm on 7th St. and about to make a left onto F St. so I can get to Mass. Ave. The first thing I notice is that this intersection isn't a perfect T configured one, but slightly askew. Now remember it is pouring down rain so I'm being pretty careful and hardly inching out into the intersection.

Then I notice that the cab heading in the opposite direction to me has his indicator on and will be making a left. I figure (like any rational driver would) that it's OK to proceed with my own left turn since I don't notice any cars following close behind him. Oh was that a costly mistake! So the next scene somehow played out in slow motion....

I was part way into my left turn and suddenly it seems that the cab picks up speed and now he isn't turning but head straight in my direction! The next thing I feel is this dull thud and I think my car could have skid a bit, but we were both going slow enough that it wasn't a bad crash at least.

So I pull over to the side, in front of the entrance to the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro and the cab stays in the intersection where he had hit me. Not the best thing to do when it's raining and there's still a steady flow of traffic, but oh well...

Well, the cop came and took control of the situation. Fortunately for me the cabbie was pretty calm throughout, cos you know some of them can get pretty crazy. Unfortunately the cop decided he had to go with the cabbie's version of events and issued me a ticket for $50.00 for 'Not yielding to traffic'. Umm, ok.

Nothing left to do but drive home slightly disgusted, but mostly just annoyed with the bad ending to a fun evening. I guess that ends this news bulletin for now. I'll check back with any and all updates as they occur.

04:46 pm - Middle of Nowhere
Guess who's back after a looong hiatus!? OK, you guessed. Duh. I must say that 2005 has been quite a busy year for me, yet I still feel there is so much more I need to do. Not sure what I can accomplish in the month we have left, but I'll try to be better at checking in here on LJ. (famous last words, right)

05:40 pm - Accentuate The Positive
Wow! Summer is fast coming to an end and I've let it all go undocumented. You know when they say "No news is good news"? Well believe it! I've been enjoying these last few weeks very much and even though I don't know where things are headed, I'm glad that things are happening in my life.

Could I be any more cryptic, you ask? Well, some of you may have heard about a cool Dutch(American) guy I've been dating. Yes, we are still seeing each other, but I have no idea if it will move on to the next stage or not? I still get a little jittery thinking about the future and while I wish things could stay the same (for the most part), sometimes it doesn't always work out as we expected.

While I hope to update more often, don't expect anything daily, but I'd like to at least go weekly if possible. Apart from the budding romance, my other news is that I've just bought a Toyota Matrix and I'm looking into grad schools. More details to follow...
